Flynnies Podcast Blog

Please visit my new podcasting blog which is located at Flynnies Podcast Blog.
I have just completed the second of three technology classes as part of my own professional development. You will hear some students' reading of their figurative language poems. Impressive! My final podcast will be a video of the students earlier in the year as they participated in creating their own Webquests. I have enjoyed creating this venue as another resource for students, parents, and visitors alike and will continue to focus on improving the blog quality as I experiment and gain more experience.

Other News:
On April 30th, I had the honor of representing Julia Landon as their Teacher of the Year at the EDDY Awards. It was a very inspirational evening as I listened to all the accomplishments the finalists had achieved. I came home with a new sense of focus and drive to continue developing my craft of teaching. I truly believe that I am a master of nothing and that I must continue to refine my knowledge and define my own style of teaching.

We are nearing the end of the school year. There are many exciting trips planned, and exciting projects to participate in. As always, our expectation is that students remain focused and work diligently to develop their leadership skills and abilities. It is also important to stay academically focused. I have personally been sending home weekly progress reports for ALL students. Students still have time to attain and achieve their academic goals. My recommendation to students is to continue to turn in all in-class assignments and homework, but more importantly, the quality of their work needs to be their personal best! This is the time of year when students think it is okay to just get by. Remember, success is just around the corner.

Important Reminders:
Formal Progress Report: May 13, 2009
End of Course Exam: ELA May 18th and 19th, 2009
Memorial Day: May 25, 2009
ELA Final Exam: May 26, 2009

Please make sure to click on the calendar for the month of May. This provides everyone a month at a glance ELA classroom activities and homework. I always recommend that students be proactive by printing out the calendar to help them prioritize their work outside of school. As always, the agenda is the primary source of information!
